National Zoo

We spent the morning at the National Zoo with the Basiaga Family.   It was a fun day despite the heat.  Emma seemed to enjoy looking at all the animals, especially the flamingos and the Ape Exhibit.

Look at the elephants!

Dada- what are these pink birds?

Flamingos!
Checking out the Flamingos with Jackson and Mr. Larry

We got to see the panda!
In case you're wondering, Emma is not in the cage with the ape.  They are separated by glass, but both were reaching out to each other.  She really wanted to touch the big monkey.

Come play with me little girl

Emma brought Sophie the giraffe with her to the zoo.

7 Months Old

Happy Birthday Emma! Emma’s definitely becoming more and more of a "little person." She's independent- sits by herself and plays with her toys. But at the same time, she wants us to be close. She is on the verge of crawling. She is motivated by objects out of her reach and will stretch as far as she can go. Right now instead of crawling, she will roll towards the object she wants. It’s really cute. It's only a matter of time before she figures out that her body can move, and then we are in trouble! Emma really loves her Jumperoo. She even tries to jump when we walk her around. Emma babbles and squeals, but we’re anxiously waiting for “Mama” and “Dada.” She seems to know her name and will look when called.

We don't have a wellness doctor visit until 9 months. Suffice to say, Emma is a healthy happy little girl and is growing quite nicely.

Thank you McLeod Family for this adorable outfit.

Emma may be no bird dog, but she is ready to go hunting with Uncle Grover.

My family was in town visiting from South Carolina.  We had quite a busy week.  We took a tour of the Capitol; watched the Nationals play the Atlanta Braves; went to the movies, a few museums, and the zoo; bowled; and played hours of Dabong (a card game).  We also went to Sunday Mass at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land (near Catholic University).  And Chris took Chaz and Jessica to one of the best sushi restaurants in DC.  Emma has really enjoyed all of the extra attention from Grandpa, Grandma, and her aunt and uncles.  She was very sad to see them go.  Thanks for a fun visit.  We love you all!
