4 Months Old

Sorry for the late post, but I wanted to wait until Emma's 4 month baby well visit so I could post her stats.  Emma's appointment went well.  Unfortunately she had to get three shots, but she did great.  She cried for a few seconds and then was fine.

Height: 24in (25% percentile)    Weight: 12lbs 1oz (10% percentile)

Emma is now 4 months old.  Besides being the cutest baby ever, she is also the smartest.  She is talking all the time.  She even said "mama" the other day.  We tried to get her to say it again, but no such luck.  Besides her baby babble, she loves to squeal and it makes us laugh every time.  Emma has certainly found her voice.  She can now roll over from her tummy to her back with ease.  She can roll the other way too, but it takes a little more effort.  Emma no longer sleeps in the miracle blanket and I am happy to report she is now sleeping through the night.  : )  She looks so grown up and alert in her pictures.  This month Emma went to Charleston, the aquarium and the beach.  She is racking up her frequent flyer miles.

I recently got some great news.  My client is letting me work from home!  I can't tell you how excited and relieved I am.  We won't have to put Emma in daycare because we've decided to hire a nanny.  She will watch Emma downstairs while I work upstairs.  I will be able to see her as much as I want.  This could not have worked out any better.

Mommy's little ladybug

I love this one.

The three of us grabbed lunch after Emma's appointment.  Poor little Emma fell asleep in her Daddy's arms.  Not sure if it was the shots or the sushi that put her to sleep.

Happy Mother's Day!

Today I am celebrating my first Mother's Day.  It has been a great day!  First, Emma surprised me by sleeping through the night.  And then this morning, she had a card waiting for me in her crib.  She is the most thoughtful little girl.  Thanks Emma!  I love being your Mommy!  After church, Daddy treated me to brunch.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing at home.  It was the perfect Mother's Day.  Thank you Chris and Emma for making this day special.  I love you both!

In honor of Mother's Day, I wanted to post this picture of my Mother and me.  I was 3 months old at the time.  Just last week and 32 years later, I recreated this picture with Emma wearing the same dress.  I think Grandma Cynthia (or Cindy) would have been very proud of her granddaughter, Emma Cynthia.

Charleston

We flew to Charleston on Tuesday and stayed with our good friends Davis and Walker who live downtown.  We had such a great time.  It was really hard to leave yesterday afternoon.
We spent the week eating out, catching up with friends, shopping, and spending quality time with Aunt Lauren and her boyfriend Wes.  We also took Emma to the beach and to the Aquarium.  Last time we were in Charleston, I was 6 weeks pregnant and felt too nauseous to enjoy eating.  Well, I certainly made up for last year.  We went to all of our favorites this week....Hominy Grill, Poe's, Poogan's Porch, Husk, Charleston Cafe, and Taco Boy.

On Wednesday, we hung out with Lauren and Wes.  It was a beautiful sunny day, so the four of us headed to Sullivan's Island.  We were really excited to take Emma to the beach.  Unfortunately it was really windy and we had trouble with the umbrella.  We spent half our time trying to figure out how to position the chairs with the towels to make some shade for the baby.  We finally gave up and decided to take turns holding the umbrella.  After the beach, we went to Poes for lunch.  They have the best fish tacos and burgers.  For dinner we ate at Hominy Grill, one of our favorites in the city.  I had the shrimp and grits with she crab soup, and Chris had this amazing catfish.  Yum!

Here is a picture of Emma and Lauren.  Lauren was kind enough to hold the umbrella up for Emma so Mommy and Daddy could get some sun.  What a cool aunt!

On Thursday, we had lunch at Poogan's Porch and dinner at Husk.  In case you haven't noticed, eating was the highlight of the trip for me.  Husk, which is one of the hotest restaurants in Charleston right now, was unbelievable.  If you are ever in Charleston, I strongly recommend this restaurant.  Thanks to Davis, we were able to get a reservation.  And thank you Lauren and Wes for babysitting!!

On Friday morning I met up with Aimee (one of my sorority sisters).  She and her husband live in Mt. Pleasant with their 2 year old twin daughters.  And she has a baby boy on the way.  I don't know how she does it!  Here are a couple pics of Emma on the couch with the twins, Eliza and Maggie.  Aren't they adorable?!

That afternoon it was raining, so we took Emma to the aquarium.  She loved it!  And we loved watching her look at all the fish.  It was so cute.  Check out this video.

Emma The Turtle

We found this turtle in the gift shop.  Emma had to have it!

On Saturday, we went to brunch at Charleston Cafe with our friends, Rachel and Mike, and then spent the afternoon with the Yahrs and their girls Nora and Riley.  We really hated to say goodbye to all of our friends.  It was a fun week.  Thank you Davis and Walker for putting us up for the week.  You are wonderful friends.
