5 Months Old

Emma turned 5 months old on June 9th.  Chris and I have really noticed a change in her this month.  She seems so much older.  She is now sitting up on her own; she grabs and plays with her toys; she has discovered her feet and likes to stick them in her mouth...along with everything else.  She is constantly grabbing those toes.  She's very strong for her age.  And her personality is really coming out.  She's the sweetest little baby in the world.
She's also had a busy month.  She went swimming for the first time; she tried solid foods; she was baptized; she flew to Florida to spend a week at the beach (her 4th round trip flight); she went to the zoo.

Chris and I started giving her solid foods this month.  She has tried rice cereal, oatmeal and carrots, the last of which made her shudder with disgust.  She loves to stick out her tongue.  She can say mama (if she gets lucky).

The nanny, Meybory, started this week.  Meybory is really great with Emma, and Emma has really taken to her.  Leaving her every day to go to work is difficult, but at least I know Emma is in good hands.

No doctor appointment this month.  I will report her stats after her 6 month well visit.

Emma's Baptism

Emma was baptized on June 16th, at St. Rita's Parish in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.  This is the same church where Chris and I were married in 2009.  Father Tom (the priest who married us) baptized Emma.  It was a very special day, which brought back lots of memories of our wedding.  The ceremony was very nice and Emma was on her best behavior.  She didn't cry once.  Emma wore the same Christening gown I wore when I was baptized.  My Grandma Goss made this dress many many years ago.  After the baptism we drove to Seaside for lunch at Bud & Alley's, one of our favorite restaurants in the area.  Thank you to everyone who drove/flew down for the ceremony.  Chris, Emma and I truly appreciate your love and support.

Emma meets Shammie, Kate and CJ

While in Florida, Emma met Aunt Roonie's three dogs, Shammie, Kate and CJ.  Shammie is an Irish Red Setter, and Kate and CJ are English Setters.  This was the first time Emma has been around dogs.  She loved them!  And they loved her.  Well, at least until she tried to pull their ears and bite their noses.  She even squealed at Kate who ran away from her.  It was pretty funny.  I don't have a picture of Shammie, but I do have a video that I need to download.

Beach Baby

I am really behind on my blogging because the Salisburys were in Florida for Emma's baptism.  We spent the week visiting with my family, playing in the pool, and hanging out on the beach.  Emma finally got to meet her Great Aunts- Jackie and Roonie, and the puppies- Shammie, Kate and CJ.  Chris's mom, brother, dad and Betsy also flew down for the week.  Thank you everyone for making this a memorable trip.  A special thanks to Mema who cooked us tons of great food.
